The provence of Almería is situated in Southeast of Spain, in the Far East of Andalusia, right where the Mediterranean is converted in to a purely southern sea, with the Cabo de Gato as a reference. It is seperated in the North of Africa, so-called maritime Mar de Alborán, recognised and appreciated by the navigators from immemorial times. A stunning sea, crystal clear, clean and warm, a sea that one would not want to leave and that it can be enjoyed until the final virgin beaches of the Spanish Mediterranean seaboard.
Almería is one of the sunniest places in Spain, with approximately 3,000 hours of sun a year and the least number of cloudy days in the whole country.
The medium temperature is 18 degrees celcius and during the summer it reaches up to 25 degrees.
Almería is also the most cinematographic place in Spain, where its fantastic scenery has been used for filming the most classic Western Films, ´The Good, The Bad and The Ugly´, ´Lawrence of Arabia´, ´Fistful of Dollars´, to name but a few. At this present time, it can be said that hundreds of Westerns have been filmed here. The Desert of Tabernas has been and still is a perfect location for these type of films, but also its strong Mediterranean personality, its volcanic scenery and, in general, its open spaces.
An accessible paradise, where it still conserves the suggestion of other paradises to discover, united by the possibility of enjoying the outdoors, through the activites from snorkelling to golf, without forgetting horse-back riding or trekking through its steep mountainous areas. Almería is also one of the provinces in Spain with major altitude.
